FLOWERS AND GARDENS
I spend most of my creative time planning portraits, but I am also inspired to make art about nature when I can. Something I enjoy doing is going out and wandering around big, meandering gardens with hidden pathways, ponds (with koi, birds, and dragonflies), and flowers everywhere. I love everything about flowers--their shapes, colors, smells, and personality. When I fill my canvas or paper with the flowers I draw or paint, I try to capture as much of what makes them magical and special as I can.
FAVORITE GARDENS
I have three public gardens I am obsessed. I always find inspiration in them. The first is the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The Japanese Garden is my favorite garden there (http://www.fwbg.org). The second is the Chandor Gardens in Weatherford, Texas. The garden was created by the 20th century English portrait artist Douglas Granville Chandor. It is beautiful and influenced by Chinese and English gardens (http://www.weatherfordparks.com/170/Chandor-Gardens). The third garden I love is the Dallas Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. The last time I went, I took a massive amount of pictures I might use in my art someday (http://www.dallasarboretum.org).
